Scientific research

The Directorate of the Galapagos National Park works to stimulate and support scientific research on natural and human systems of the Galapagos, to implement with the lowest level of uncertainty, conservation and sustainable development measures through their Management Programs.


Criteria for approved research and projects

Today, conservation research must go beyond biology to include the interaction and interdependence between natural processes and human development. The Directorate of the Galapagos National Park is the institution responsible for regulating research in the natural protected areas, and establishes the criteria for this..

Standards for research

Despite its touristic image, field research in the Galapagos is difficult, due to both meteorological and geological conditions, and by its remoteness. It is imperative to follow the rules and protocols established during all phases of research.
