Pressure on global fishing resources is increasing steadily.

In the Galapagos Marine Reserve, a fisheries management based on reliable data and participation of all parties in decision-making is the only way to prevent overfishing and ensure the resource's long-term sustainability.

Fishing is a traditional productive activity in the Galapagos. With the increased activity in recent decades, an adequate and participatory management of marine resources is necessary, especially for those species most vulnerable to human activity.
