La Casona the breeding center will be closed for maintenance

The DGNP perform the reconstruction, improvement and upgrading of the infrastructure that is in the breeding center Fausto Llerena.



La Casona is a point of interpretations of public use that is part of place of the visits breeding center Fausto Llerena, inside of the Galapagos National Park institution in Puerto Ayora.

The Galapagos National Park Service (DGNP), as part of annual planning for restructuring, improvement and adaptation of the sites to visit the Galapagos National Park, established the beginning of these actions is a place of interpretations for public use called "The Casona ", it a part of the place of the visitor to the breeding center Fausto Llerena, in Puerto Ayora, on Santa Cruz Island.

The house was created to provide information for visitors to endemic species of the archipelago, as well as management actions and or control of invasive species that makes the Galapagos National Park Service in conjunction with other actors.

Currently the infrastructure is in a critical state, which is why the DGNP temporarily closed from tomorrow and this place of interpretation to effect reconstruction, improvement and adaptation of the place.

It should be noted that only this point of interpretation area is closed for use, but not the rest such as the breeding center Fausto Llerena, this place is still keeping open to the visitors, pens of all different tortoises species of the islands are found there, also the protected area for the well known and famous as "Lonesome George" is open.
