Whenever there is a change of personnel at the Galapagos Air Base, the DPNG gives this training.

Periodically, the Directorate of the Galapagos National Park, supported by other institutions in the Province, such as AGROCALIDAD and the Charles Darwin Foundation, trains new military personnel designated to perform their work at the Galapagos Air Base and new civilians who remain on this island for a certain time.

On this occasion there were 34 temporary residents who attended the training lectures given by staff of the Process for Environmental Communication, Education and Participation (CEPA) and the Process for Preservation and Restoration of Terrestrial Ecosystems, of the DGNP, related to the rules for visiting the National Park's protected areas, the importance of the Marine Reserve and the coexistence between people and land iguanas on Baltra.

Participants received promotional materials, educational and informational, from the DGNP. "This particular group was very active and interested, with much willingness to learn, so that in the future, they will not commit violations for lack of knowledge", said Ma. Isabela Daza, the DGNP environmental educator.

This action allows staff, which is rotated regularly, living on the island of Baltra, to get to know where they live, which is different from living on any other place on earth.
